PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attitude estimation device accurately estimating an attitude of a person picked up in an image. SOLUTION: The attitude estimation device 3 stores a reference shape characteristic amount indicating a distribution of positional relation with other reference characteristic points calculated about each of a plurality of reference characteristic points set in each of a plurality of attitude models each representing the attitude of the person, and a part parameter value representing an angle of a joint in each specific part of the attitude model corresponding to the reference shape characteristic amount, calculates a shape characteristic amount indicating a distribution of positional relation with other characteristic points about each characteristic point set on an edge of the image, and selects the reference shape characteristic amount similar to each of the shape characteristic amounts in each characteristic point. The attitude estimation device 3 obtains a distribution of each specific part about the part parameter value corresponding to the selected reference shape characteristic amount, and estimates a shape of the specific part of the person picked up in the image from the part parameter value on which the distribution of the part parameter values concentrates.
