The invention relates to a method for optimising the parameter setting of at least one energy-supply parameter of a field device power-supply module. Said field device power-supply module is connected exclusively to one field device and supplies electrical energy to said connected field device. According to the invention, the system, which consists of the field device and the field device power-supply module, is operated and a parameter setting of at least one energy-supply parameter is varied. The operating mode of the field device is monitored. Parameter settings are determined that allow a relatively low energy consumption for the field device while simultaneously permitting said field device to operate safely in the operation phase in question.
