The device (1) has a high-speed electric motor (2) connected with a high voltage power source (3) via a bridge circuit (4) for electrical commutation by pulse width modulation. The bridge circuit comprises three inverters (5-7) built into a full-bridge circuit. Semiconductor switches (9-20) i.e. insulated gate bipolar transistors, are arranged in pairs, where each inverter comprises two pairs of semiconductor switches. Each semiconductor switch comprises a free-wheeling diode connected in a parallel manner. A filter (21) i.e. phase filter, is connected between the bridge circuit and the motor.
