PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer can attain to speed up photographic printing, reduce power consumption, and reduce cost of a body. SOLUTION: The thermal printer has a main unit 13 having a thermal head 7, a print engine part 10 for driving the thermal head 7, a control part 11 for controlling the print engine part 10, and a power source part 12 the feeding power to the print engine part 10 and the control part 11; and a sub unit 14 interlocking with the main unit 13. The sub unit 14 has a thermal head 15 and a print engine part 18 interlocking with the thermal head 15. The control part 11 controls the print engine part 18.
