PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for an intercom system to monitor external abnormality without newly adding any special device. SOLUTION: In an intercom system comprised of an intercom slave unit with a camera and an intercom master unit, the intercom slave unit has: the camera for inputting an external video image captured under a telescopic mode or a video image of a visitor captured under a close-up mode; a microphone for inputting an external sound under an external sound-monitoring mode monitoring external abnormal sound or a voice of the visitor under a close-talking mode; and a means for controlling a sensitivity of the microphone to switch between the external sound-monitoring mode and the contact-talking mode.
