The device (1) has an air-conditioning system (3) provided with a refrigerant circuit (4). The air-conditioning system performs air conditioning the interior of a motor vehicle (40). An air-conditioning controller (16) of the system, a controller (7) of an electrical machine (2), and a charge state detecting unit (44) of an energy storage unit i.e. traction battery (42), are connected to a central energy control unit (38). The control unit centrally controls the controllers depending on charge of the storage unit and predetermined weighing of requested driving and comfort functions.
