The device (10) has a fuel pre-feed pump (12) i.e. gear pump, conveying fuel from a fuel tank (11) to a fuel high-pressure pump (14). A pressure-lateral delivery line (18) of the pre-feed pump is attached over a bleed valve (19) to a return line (20) for ventilation, where the return line is guided back to the fuel tank. A suction-side delivery line (24) of the pre-feed pump is connected with the return line over a by-pass line (23). A relief valve releases connection between the pressure-lateral delivery line and the return line.
