The pump has a pump housing (18) consisting of pump part e.g. pump piston (4), determining function of the pump, piston return spring (2) cooperating with a spring stop (6), and suction and pressure valves (7, 13). An annular space limits the pump piston at a section side, and is implemented as an overrun area (3) for liquid. A conveying space (1) limits the pump piston at a pressure-side. The spring stop is provided in the overrun area and fixed at circumference of the piston by a mechanism. The stop is produced from a thin sheet part or a plastic part by deep-drawing or injection molding. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a spring stop on a pump piston of a piston pump.
