The invention relates to a mast for a transportation means having a sail. Said mast is characterized in that it includes a base (10), including at least one metal portion that includes at least one device for attaching the fittings (14, 15, 16, 17) for a sail of the transportation means. Said mast is moreover characterized in that it includes an upper portion (3) made of fibers such as carbon, glass, or aramid fibers, said top portion being attached by means of nesting with the base (10).
