PURPOSE: A communication channel converting method and an apparatus in a shared memory communications environment are provided to support a live migration of a virtual machine by converting a shared memory communication channel into a TCP/IP channel. CONSTITUTION: The first virtual machine(100) includes a switching unit(104), a state controller(106), a channel converting message processor(108), a TCP/IP communication channel(110), and a shared memory communication channel(112). The second virtual machine(200) shares the TCP/IP communication channel and the shared memory communications channel. The second virtual machine has the same configurations as the first virtual machine. The switching part adjusts the direction of the communication flow. The state controller plays a role of deciding the communication flow.
