<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image projection display capable of improving its optical modulation efficiency (light use efficiency). <P>SOLUTION: The image projection display 100 is built to pass light emitted from a light source 10 to its projection unit 80 side. It has a transparent digital element 70 having a number of fine holes 71, and a microlens 61 made to pass the light emitted from the light source 10 and to distribute it to each of the fine holes 71.
