PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire detector that detects heat in a shorter time. SOLUTION: The fire detector is provided with: a fire detector 1; a cover 2; a heat detection element 4 projecting from the cover 2; a protection section 7 formed to surround the projected heat detection element 4 for protecting the heat detection element 4; and an opening section 6 formed to reduce heat capacity of a section around the heat detection element of the cover 2. The fire detector is also provided with: a thin plate section formed at a part of the cover 2 to face the protection section 7, a plurality of holes formed to face the protection section 7 of the cover 2, and a heat insulating member formed to face the protection part 7 so as to reduce the heat capacity.
