The separator (1) has an electronically insulating separator layer comprising pores for receiving an electrolyte and a single layer (2). A regular or disorder patterns comprising variety of projections and/or recesses such as burl (3), crater (3'), grooves, rib and/or honeycomb-like structures and arranged on a side of the single layer by a shaping process such as rolling or pressing process. The separation layer is made of alumina, silica, spodumene, phosphate, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, boron nitride, boron carbide, titanium diboride and zirconium diboride. An independent claim is also included for an electrochemcial cell with a positive electrode. |
