A method of producing a housing portion (1) of a portable electronic device comprising at least two layers is provided. The method comprises the steps of providing a first housing portion layer (2) made from sheet metal, providing a second housing portion layer (10) made from a plastic material, forming a first housing portion from the first housing portion layer using a high speed forming process, and joining the first housing portion layer with the second housing portion layer. A housing portion (1) of a portable electronic device manufactured in accordance with the method is also provided.
