Synthetic resin articles are formed by filling a preformed moulding bag with the resin moulding composition and any of filling and insulating materials and compression moulding and curing the composition in the bag. The bag is preferably evacuated before the moulding step and the contents may be maintained under vacuum during the pressing. The bag may contain reinforcement or prefabricated parts such as heating, cooling or illuminating components. The bag may be made of extensible material and may be smaller than the final product so that wrinkles are prevented. It may be made of a release material, it may remain on the surface of the mould or it may comprise a two-ply sheet, with an outer ply which can be peeled off and an inner ply which adheres to the moulding. The bag may be vacuum formed from a sheet before moulding. |
