PURPOSE: A display device and a driving method thereof are provided to increase a contrast by analyzing a histogram property at regions applying a weighted value. CONSTITUTION: In a display device and a driving method thereof, a display panel comprises an LCD panel or an organic electro-luminescence display panel. A histogram analysis unit(71) produces a histogram of a data signal supplied from outside. A weighted value determination unit(73) makes the weighted value of the histogram of a homogeneous region and a heterogeneous region different. The histogram changing unit(75) generates a corrected data signal by changing the histogram of a homogeneous region and a heterogeneous region. A data driving unit supplies a data signal to a display panel.
