1360449 Lockable ball-joints DUCELLIER & CIE 9 Dec 1971 [23 Dec 1970] 57145/71 Heading E2F [Also in Division F4] A searchlight is mounted on a vehicle by a swivel device 5 comprising a spherical cap 11 having an annular flange 13 which is located by a collar 6 which is mountable on the searchlight body 1, the spherical cap 11 being adjustably clamped to a spherical socket 20 by a fixing screw 17 which has a spherically bossed head 19 supported inside cap 11 and which extends through the cap 11 and socket 20, wherein the cap 11 and the collar 6 are releasably clampable together to prevent relative angular and axial movement therebetween with respect to the axis of the annular flange 13. As shown the collar 6 having an aperture therein is clamped between flange 13 of inner cap 11 and the edge 15a of an outer cap 15. An elongated slot 12 in cap 11, extending over an arc of 180‹ and through which the screw 17 projects, enables the searchlight to be pivoted about axis 41. The other axes, perpendicular to axis 41, about which pivotting is possible are shown at 40 and 42. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown) the cup is secured to the collar by a nut (25) engaging a thread (24) on the outside of the cup. In a further embodiment, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the cup is secured to the collar by screws (26, 27) extending through curved slots (30, 31) in the collar. |
