<p>Hollow cylindrical electrical insulator or similar object is produced by first heating the mould, containing the reinforcing interlay, to casting temp. under vacuum, then introducing hot resin-filler mixture under vacuum, and finally rotating mould during hardening. Internally may be pre-impregnated. Object is to inhibit crack-formation. Reinforcing interlay is pref. woven or fibrous and may be quarz and/or aluminium hydrate or glass fibres and/or polymer fibres.</p> |
