NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery capable of preventing a minute short circuit between positive and negative electrodes and improving charge and discharge cycle characteristics.

SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes: a positive electrode layer; a negative electrode layer; and a solid electrolyte layer interposed between both layers. The positive electrode layer contains ≥0.001 mass% of carbon dioxide. As an example of a method for allowing the positive electrode layer to contain carbon dioxide, the positive electrode layer is formed by a vapor phase method under a plasma atmosphere containing carbon dioxide, and thereby carbon dioxide is incorporated in the positive electrode layer, so that the positive electrode layer containing a predetermined amount of carbon dioxide can be obtained.
