<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toolholder secondary retention system. <P>SOLUTION: A toolholder support member for retaining the shank of a toolholder has a hole for housing the toolholder shank. A retention member extends through the hole wall to engage a perforation extending through the shank or indentation within the shank. As a result, the shank is retained in the housing hole. The retention member is biased to provide resistance for insertion or extraction of the shank in the housing hole. Further, a retention hole is angled relative to the longitudinal axis of the housing hole so that the force required to insert the toolholder into the housing hole is minimized, while the force required to extract the toolholder from the housing hole is maximized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
