PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation device for a water heater which can promote planation of an operation surface with excellent energy saving performance as well as in operability. SOLUTION: Among a plurality of operation switches provided for the operation device A, at least increase/decrease changing switches SW2, SW3 are non-contact type operation switches. On the operation surface 11a, light-emission parts 12B, 12C where light emission and non-light emission can be switched are provided at positions corresponding to the increase/decrease changing switches SW2, SW3. These light emission parts 12B, 12C keep the non-emission state when an operation-off mode is switched to an operation-on mode, in addition to during the operation-off mode. The light emission parts 12B, 12C become an emission state when a data variable mode is set by operating a menu switch SW1 during the operation mode, and returns to the non-emission state when the data variable mode is canceled.
