PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and stably producing coke over a long period of time, whereby distortion of a door frame is prevented, dropping of metal matters is prevented, reduction of repair frequency and operation is realized and a furnace body of a coke oven is protected over a long period of time. SOLUTION: In the coke oven of a type wherein the door frame 35 of a furnace cover is held by a protection plate (flash plate 33 or a head plate 34) fastened by a backstay 2, a throat structure is characterized that a protection ledge 37 is fit into a space formed by the protection plate 38 and the head plate 34.
