PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control omission of execution of a sort program with respect to a file by using sort information of a file. SOLUTION: The computer 1 executes a sort program 7 according to the designation of a job control file 9. A sort key, an input file name, and an output file name to be used for the execution of the sort program 7 are designated in the job control file 9. The computer 1 is connected to a sort information registration table 12 in which the sort key used when the sort program 7 has been already executed, input file information including the input file name and output file information including the output file name are associated with one another and registered as the sort information. The computer 1 is provided with a sort omission control part 5 for omitting the execution of the sort program 7 when the sort information matched with the sort key, the input file name and the output file name designated in the job control file 9 is registered in the sort information registration table 12.
