PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission which reduces the number of parts and improves assembling work. SOLUTION: The continuously variable transmission includes a toroidal type variable transmission 1 and a planetary gear type transmission 20. The planetary gear type transmission 20 is provided with a second sun gear 25, a third sun gear 26, and a fourth sun gear 27 made integrally rotatable by a transmission shaft on the same shaft. The movement in the axial direction of these sun gears and transmission shaft is restrained by a bearing support part 29d provided on a fixed third carrier supporting a third planetary gear 30 engaging with the third sun gear 26 and by thrust needle bearings 41, 42 disposed in the front or rear of the bearing support part. The thrust needle bearing 41 is disposed between the bearing support part 29d and the second sun gear 25, while the thrust needle bearing 42 is disposed between the bearing support part 29d and the third sun gear 26.
