PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a spinning reel in the axis direction of the handle shaft, while downsizing in the front and behind direction of the reel body. SOLUTION: A spinning reel for fishing comprises: a handle shaft 4 connected with the handle 5 and prepared in the reel body 1 to rotate; a spool shaft 9 with which the spool 3 is attached at the front end and with which the sliding body 7 was attached at the rear end; and an oscillating mechanism converting through the sliding body 7 the rotational motion of the handle shaft 4 into the reciprocating motion in the front and behind direction along the axis of the spool shaft 9. The spinning reel further comprises: an inserting part 20 equipped at the rear end of the reel body 1 and receiving a part of the sliding body 7, when the spool shaft 9 moves to the rearmost position; and, at least either in the insertion part 20 or the sliding body 7, and an introducing means which introduces into the insertion part 20 the sliding body 7 moving to the rear end.
