The mechanism (1) has lower and upper ring pistons (2, 3) accommodated in a housing (20) and arranged coaxial to each other. The pistons are connected with engagement-/ release bearings (10, 11) e.g. roller bearings, so that the release bearing is moved in an axial direction by a movement of the ring pistons between a lower position of minimum hub and an upper position of maximum hub. The upper position of the maximum hub of the lower ring piston is limited by a surface (22a) of the housing below the upper ring piston.
