The invention relates to a vibrating plate apparatus comprising a vibrating plate (12) on which the user is placed, a vibration motor (28) rigidly connected to the vibrating plate so as to cause the latter to vibrate, a plurality of air cushions (55-1, 55-2, 55-3) placed under the vibrating plate so as to cushion the effect of the vibrations, and a compressed air source (60) in communication with each of the air cushions and suitable for setting the air pressure in at least one of the air cushions to a predetermined value, regardless of the weight of the user. An actuator (70-1, 70-2, 70-3) placed under each air cushion is connected to a sensor/controller (72-1, 72-2, 72-3) that is linked to a control unit (64). Each sensor/controller constantly detects the air pressure in the air cushion corresponding to the actuator and controls alternating movement of the actuator on the basis of said pressure at a frequency predetermined under the control of the control unit so as to obtain an oscillating movement or an oscillating and rotating movement of the vibrating plate. |
