[Also in Divisions B4 and B5] A continuous method of coating sheet materials e.g. paper comprises (a) continuously applying thereto particulate material comprising at least 50 weight per cent of reclaimed synthetic thermoplastic material, (b) heating to the softening point of the material and (c) continuously compressing the softened material. The compressed coated sheet may be conveyed from the compression step by a conveyor device, and the heating and compression may be provided by heated rollers. The particulate material may comprise polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene; and metal foil and/or fibrous materials such as paper, paperboard, cardboard, saw dust, wood chips, straw, bitumastic paper or plastics coated paper.</p> |
