PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection sensitivity by increasing electric field strength near a spray port of an ESI (Electro-Spray Ion) ion source and by increasing efficiency for moving generated fine charged droplets and ions to an ion inlet. SOLUTION: A cover electrode 13 incorporating a cylindrical part 131 and a disk 132 is provided so as to surround an electrode 12 provided at a tip of a nozzle 11 of an ionization probe 10, and a liquid sample is sprayed through an opening 133 formed at the disk 132 coaxially with a center axis C. By making the potential of the cover electrode 13 the same as the ground potential of the ion inlet, a space between the cover electrode 13 and the ion inlet 21 is made to have substantially zero potential to form a strong electric field in the space surrounded by the cover electrode 13 and near the spray port 113. This increases the generation efficiency of the charged droplets and eliminates an adverse effect by the electric field at the movement of the charged droplets and ions, and therefore, the fine charged particles and ions are transported to the ion inlet efficiently.
