526,590. Gas turbines. HOLZWARTHGASTURBINEN AKT.-GES. March 21, 1939, No. 8971. Convention date, March 21, 1938. [Class 110 (iii)] A blade for an explosion turbine comprises an outer shell 2 made of a heat-resisting metal or alloy of high melting point, and a core 1 of higher heat conductivity than the shell. The cross-sectional area of the shell part is equal to or less than, four times the cross-sectional area of the core. The core 1, which may be copper, extends at the root 4 into a space 3 containing a cooling agent. Welded joints 8 secure the blade to walls 7. The coolant may be water under pressure near its boiling point, the water being used later to form steam. Fig. 6 shows another means to secure the blade root in position. The shell may be. made of tungsten or an alloy of tungsten, and may not completely enclose the core. |
