<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a playback mode switching method, an output mode switching method, and a display apparatus and a 3D image providing system using the same, capable of automatically switching a playback mode and an output mode for 3D images. <P>SOLUTION: The playback mode switching method, the output mode switching method, and the display apparatus and the 3D image providing system using the same are disclosed. The playback mode switching method includes: a step of receiving state information regarding shutter glasses; and a step of switching a playback mode or displaying a message for switching the playback mode based on the state information.
