摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique in a collision prediction apparatus that readily maintains reliability in collision prediction, even when regions where a vehicle is likely to collide with obstacles are different. SOLUTION: The collision prediction apparatus applies a collision prediction position and reliability that are calculated from the relation between own vehicle and the obstacles to multiple segments, where the width of own vehicle is segmented to determine collision prediction segments predicts that the obstacles collide with from among multiple segments. Segments Xn (n are integer numbers) are arranged with an equal width predetermined by the detection accuracy of an obstacle detection sensor, regardless of the width of own vehicle; the multiple segments X1-X5 are arranged so that the segments Xn line up in a row without intervals (Fig.2(a)), or the multiple segments are arranged so that the segments Xn line up without intervals, while the segments Xn have overlapped sections (Fig.2(b)) with respect to the width of own vehicle.
