PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink for forming a spacer, which can control the height of the spacer, and to provide a method for producing the spacer for a liquid crystal display apparatus by using the ink for forming the spacer, the liquid crystal display apparatus, and a method for producing the liquid crystal display apparatus. SOLUTION: Liquid droplets of the ink for forming the spacer, which ink contains a resin and a solvent for dissolving the resin which effectively does not contain solid particles, are dropped on a substrate by an inkjet method, and the solvent is removed from the liquid droplets landed on the substrate to form the spacer at a predetermined position on the substrate; and the ink for forming the spacer for the liquid crystal display apparatus is such that the surface free energy of the hardened resin being the spacer is in the range of 26 or greater and 30 mJ/m<SP>2</SP>or less.
