PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and system for suppressing the amount of microorganisms which suppresses the amount of microorganisms by pressurizing and decompressing them, can continuously treat a large amount of liquid containing microorganisms, has a relatively simple mechanism, and can be provided at a low cost. SOLUTION: The apparatus for suppressing the amount of microorganisms includes a pressure pump 1 having an inflow port 4 for taking the liquid containing microorganisms and an outflow port 5 for sending the liquid, a pipe 2 whose one end 6 is connected to the outflow port 5 of the pressure pump 1 and which introduces the liquid, forcibly fed by the pressure pump 1, from the one end 6 to the other end 7, and a discharge port 8 installed at the other end 7 of the pipe 2 and having a throttle 8a with a smaller cross sectional area than that of the pipe 2 to jet the liquid to the outside of the pipe 2. While the liquid moves through the pipe 2, the microorganisms in the liquid are pressurized to a predetermined high pressure by the pressure of the liquid pressurized by the pressure pump 1, and the liquid is jetted from the discharge port 8 to reduce the pressure of the liquid, thereby suddenly releasing the microorganisms from the high pressure to inactivate them.
