摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus appropriately cooling a gradient magnetic field coil without causing dew condensation. SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes: a magnetic field generating system for applying a static magnetic field and a gradient magnetic field to a subject; a transmission system for applying a high-frequency magnetic field for exciting nuclear magnetic resonance to the atomic nuclei constituting the living tissue of the subject; a receiving system detecting nuclear magnetic resonance signals released by the nuclear magnetic resonance; a signal processing system performing an image reconstruction operation using the nuclear magnetic resonance signals detected by the receiving system; and a central processing unit for controlling the motion of the whole apparatus. The amounts of heat generation of a gradient magnetic field power supply, the gradient magnetic field coil, a high-frequency amplifier for applying a high frequency for the nuclear magnetic resonance and a water cooling device such as a helium refrigerator are predicted before the MRI measurement, and MRI cooling water is cooled down to the lower limit of preset temperature after taking the ambient temperature and/or humidity into account, and the preset temperature of cooling water is returned to appropriate temperature just before termination of the MRI measurement to efficiently operate the water cooling device.
