Disclosed is a power generation system provided with: a power generation unit which generates power by consuming source gas that has passed through a gas meter having the function of outputting an abnormality signal and/or the function of cutting off the flow of the source gas when the state in which the flow of the source gas is not stopped continuously for a reset time or longer continues for a first upper limit time or longer; a source gas supply unit which supplies the source gas to the power generation unit; and a control unit. The control unit performs a source gas supply operation for supplying the source gas from the source gas supply unit to the power generation unit when a power generation operation is normally stopped, and stops the power generation operation and also stops the source gas supply operation until at least the reset time has elapsed when the gas supply abnormality in which the abovementioned state continues for a second upper limit time or longer occurs, the second upper limit time being shorter than the first upper limit time.
