<p>The sheathed column has a cladding (1) which is filled with sand (2) or gravel compressed by vibration and load. A stable base plate (3) is arranged at the lower end, on which a tension unit is fastened. The tension unit is extended through the filling to the upper end of the filling and is guided through a head plate (5). A clamping device (6) is arranged at the upper end of the tension unit. The tension unit is fastened at the center of the base plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a coated column.</p>
