<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for extracting circumscribed rectangles of characters in a transplantable electronic document. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for extracting circumscribed rectangles of characters in a transplantable electronic document comprises: a command and font resource extraction device for extracting text-segment-related commands corresponding to a text segment in a pertinent page, and font resources with respect to the page of the transplantable electronic file; a division device for dividing the font resources into fonts requiring replacement and fonts not requiring replacement; a font replacement device for seeking fonts which are most similar to the fonts requiring replacement with respect to character shape measurement, as sub-fonts from an external replacement font list and taking the sub-fonts and the fonts not requiring replacement as font resources after font replacement; a measurement information extraction device for extracting character shape measurement information of characters of the text segment by the font resources after font replacement; and a calculation device for calculating circumscribed rectangles of the characters in accordance with the text-segment-related commands and character shape measurement information of the characters. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
