<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber reduced in bending loss and high in bandwidth for a high-data rate application reduced in cladding effect. <P>SOLUTION: The optical fiber includes a central core having an alpha-index profile with respect to an outer cladding, a first depressed trench, an inner cladding, a second depressed trench, and an outer cladding (for example, an outer optical cladding).
