PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus by which a margin-less printing can be performed without deviating a load toward a specified recording element, and without remarkably decreasing a through-put in comparing with a margin-less printing of a fixed form size when recording is performed on a recording medium of a non-fixed form size without changing a conventional platen shape. SOLUTION: When an image is recorded on a recording medium with a different size from a specified size, the recording medium is conveyed by an amount of conveying shorter than a length in which a plurality of recording elements are arranged at a recording head, and the end part region in the scanning direction of the recording head on the recording medium is recorded by restricting the recording elements to be used to the recording elements corresponding to a second region, and an intermediate region in the scanning direction of the recording head on the recording medium is recorded by permitting the use of the recording element which does not correspond to the second region.
