The negative image of the desired printing plate is recorded on the screen of the image tube so that the UV emission hardens the emulsion into a corresponding positive. The end face of the screen is extended into a glass fibre layer with fibres running parallel to the axis or a fibre optics matching plate with a concave top to match the screens convex face and a flat lower side is interposed. This plate may have a larger or smaller base area than the top so as to act as magnifier or reducer.
