METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR APPLICATION OF ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE LAYERS WITH A HIGH CURRENT CARRYING CAPABILITY FOR MAKING INTERNAL CONTACT WITH CHANNELS

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus which is suitable for carrying out the method for making internal contact with the channels of resistance heating elements, as described in its generic form in DE 100 60 301 A1. The invention is based on the object of indicating a capability to coat the channel inner walls of a honeycomb-structure heater with metal quickly and precisely in accordance with a predetermined pattern, while avoiding the disadvantages of the prior art. The object is achieved by a method for application of electrically conductive layers with a high current carrying capability to the walls of the channels of an electrical resistance heating element, by immersing an appropriately designed miniature lance successively into the channels to be coated and by applying a metal paste to the channel inner walls by means of pressure while at the same time moving the miniature lance out, and by immersing the miniature lance starting from the other side, in each case, into the channel for coating, in the case of adjacent channels.
