Traction system for a direct-drive electric vehicle, both electric motors (3a, 3b) having respective first drive shafts (2a, 2b) connected directly to a right drive wheel (1a) and to a left drive wheel (1b), a traction control circuit (7) that transmits additional power to a drive wheel (1a, 1b) when sensor means (7a, 7b) detect a loss of traction in another drive wheel (1a, 1b), and that includes a coupling device (5) connected to both second drive shafts (4a, 4b) of the electric motors (3a, 3b) to transmit variable torque from a zero degree of coupling to a total degree of coupling between the electric motors (3a, 3b); a management logic (6) that activates and regulates the degree of coupling of the coupling device (5) between the electric motors (3a, 3b) depending on the degree of traction loss in a drive wheel (1a, 1b).
