WATER-SOLUBLE AZO COMPOUND OR SALT THEREOF, INK COMPOSITION, AND COLORED BODY

A water-soluble azo compound represented by general formula (1) or a salt thereof is provided as a yellow dye which exhibits a high printing density suitable for inkjet recording and can yield recorded matter having various excellent fastnesses, particularly high light fastness. Further, when an ink composition is prepared using the compound or the salt, the ink composition exhibits excellent storage stability. An ink composition containing the yellow dye is also provided. In general formula (1), Q is a halogen atom; n is an integer of 1 to 3; x is an integer of 2 to 4; m is 1 or 2; and A is an amino group represented by any of general formulae (2) to (4). In general formulae (2) to (4), y is an integer of 1 to 11; z is 1 or 2; R is a hydrogen atom or the like; and W is an integer of 0 to 2.
