The method involves determining a reference route from a starting point to a destination under utilization of road segments and route calculation criteria. An alternative route from the starting point to the destination is determined under utilization of road graphs and the route calculation criteria, where weight of one of the road segments within a weight value range is randomly changed during determination of the alternative route. The alternative route is selected as a driving route when the alternative route partially differs from the reference route. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a route calculation device for stochastic calculation of a driving route between a starting point and a destination (2) a computer program product comprising instructions to perform a method for stochastic calculation of a driving route between a starting point and a destination.
