PURPOSE: A mobile terminal capable of the mounting of a memory card and a memory card management method thereof are provided to display a card icon corresponding to the memory card on the screen of a standby mode in the mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: If a memory card is mounted, a controller senses the memory card(215). The controller displays a card icon corresponding to the memory card on a standby screen(217). The controller manages the card icon through the standby screen(219). If the memory card is attached and detached, the controller senses the attachment or detachment of the memory card(221). The controller eliminates the card icon corresponding to the memory card from the standby screen(223).
