PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having suppressed image density unevenness after elapse of time of storage. SOLUTION: In this electrophotographic photoreceptor having a conductive substrate, a photosensitive layer provided on the conductive substrate, and a surface protective layer provided on the photosensitive layer, the surface protective layer is constituted by comprising a crosslinked product of at least one compound selected from guanamine compound and melamine compound, and at least one charge transport material having at least one substituent selected from -OH, -OCH<SB>3</SB>, -NH<SB>2</SB>, -SH and -COOH, and includes at least one compound of 0.1-5 mass%, selected from the guanamine compound and the melamine compound, and when the electrophotographic photoreceptor is packaged, a surface oxygen amount by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic measurement (XPS measurement) in the surface protective layer after unsealing the package is 4-8 atm%.
