<p>A sapogenic acid deriv. of partial formula (I): (where X is COOH, carboxylic ester, prim-, sec-, or tert-carbonamide or CN) is reacted with a C- nucleophile to give steroid derivs of formula (II) or (III): (where R is a C-nucleophile residue, X' is COOH, CN or tert. carbonamide). The products can be converted into the corresp. DELTA16-pregnen-2-ones by acylation, oxidation, and hydrolysis, the latter being intermediates for corticoid-type anti-inflammatories and other physiologically active pregnanes.</p> |
