PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preliminary treatment method for molten iron in which a torpedo-car is used, wherein in the case of exciting the resonance (sloshing) of molten iron by vibrating the furnace body for uniformly stirring the molten iron to the furnace (car) end part, the furnace body can surely be vibrated. SOLUTION: When the furnace body 11 is vibrated at the arbitrary frequency fk by means of an oscillator 23, a sensing for determining whether the resonance of the molten iron 1 occurs at the frequency fk or not is performed. Based on the result of the sensing (the result of the determination), the frequency fkm at which the resonance of the molten iron 1 occurs is defined as the vibration frequency fk.
