PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To circulate metal flow inside of an immersion nozzle just before spouting from the inside of the immersion nozzle without use of circulation mechanism. SOLUTION: The immersion nozzle for continuous casting is equipped with two spouting holes 2 opposite to each other at the position of side face 1b near a bottom part 1a of the cylindrical nozzle body 1, but does not have the circulating flow generating mechanism that gives circulating flow velocity in the circumferential direction to the down flow inside the immersion nozzle. In the immersion nozzle, the width W of the spouting holes 2 is made smaller than the inside diameter d of the bottom part 1a of the nozzle body 1; the centerlines of side walls 2a of the spouting holes 2 projected on a horizontal plane do not pass through the center of cross section of the nozzle body 1; and two of the spouting holes 2 projected on a horizontal plane are opened point-symmetrically with respect to the center of cross section of the nozzle body 1. Thus, without the circulating flow generating mechanism inside the immersion nozzle, the immersion nozzle can achieve homogeneous flow velocity at the spouting holes and stable flow inside the mold, so that the circulating flow generating mechanism is not necessary, which may cause clogging by non-metallic inclusion or may require a large scale equipment such as electromagnetic stirring.
